Gifts of Stocks & Securities
Give What Has Grown
Generosity can take many forms. If you own appreciated stocks, mutual funds, ETFs, or other securities, you may be able to give these assets directly to Intown rather than selling them first and giving cash.
For eligible gifts of appreciated securities held for more than one year, you may be able to receive a charitable deduction based on the fair market value of the gift while avoiding capital gains tax on the appreciation. This can make giving appreciated investments a tax-efficient way to support Intown's ministries and mission.
How to Give Stock & Securities
Step 1: Contact your broker.
Ask your broker to transfer your gift directly to Intown Community Church's brokerage account at Charles Schwab. Your broker will need the appropriate transfer information, including Intown's Schwab account information and DTC number.
Name of account is Intown Community Church
Intown’s Schwab Account Number: 4635-8316
Intown’s transfer code number: DTC 0164
Name of the stock and the number of shares you will transfer
Step 2: Let Intown know about your gift.
Reach out via email to accounting@intown.org, or call 404-633-8077 to notify our accounting department of this donation. Your notification helps us identify your gift and ensure it is properly credited.
Be prepared to share the following information:
Your name
The security being transferred
The number of shares
Any specific instructions for your gift
A Few Things to Know
Giving appreciated securities directly to Intown may allow you to avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation.
Securities held for more than one year may qualify for a charitable deduction based on their fair market value, subject to IRS rules and limitations.
The tax benefits of giving securities depend on your individual circumstances. We recommend consulting your tax or financial advisor.
Gifts from your IRA
Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you are 70½ or older, you can make a charitable gift directly from your IRA to Intown Community Church through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD).
A QCD can be a tax-efficient way to give. The amount given directly to Intown generally reduces your taxable income and can count toward your required minimum distribution (RMD) if you are required to take one.
A QCD can be especially helpful if you take the standard deduction. You can give directly from your IRA to Intown, still take the standard deduction, and support Intown's ministries and mission.
How Does a QCD Work?
Contact your IRA custodian. Ask them to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly to Intown Community Church.
Make the check payable to Intown Community Church. Your IRA custodian may mail the check directly to Intown or send it to you to deliver. The check should be payable directly to Intown Community Church, not to you.
Please let Intown know about your QCD. Contact the Intown church office by email at finance@intown.org, or call 404-633-8077 and ask for Penny. This helps us make sure your gift is properly credited and provide an acknowledgment.
Allow enough time. If you are making a QCD near the end of the year, contact your IRA custodian early to allow time for the gift to be processed and received.
Keep your records. Keep the documentation from your IRA custodian and the acknowledgment from Intown for your tax records.
A Few Things to Know
You must be at least 70½ when the distribution is made to make a QCD.
The gift must be made directly from your IRA to Intown. If the money is distributed to you first, it generally will not qualify as a QCD.
A QCD can satisfy all or part of your RMD.
A QCD is generally excluded from taxable income rather than claimed as a charitable deduction.
Ready to Give?
If you're considering a QCD, contact your IRA custodian to learn about their process for making a charitable distribution. We also recommend consulting your tax or financial advisor about how a QCD may fit your individual situation.

Gifts of Real Estate
Give from What You Own
Real estate can be a meaningful way to make a significant gift to support Intown's ministries and mission. If you own appreciated property—such as a home, vacation property, land, or commercial real estate—you may be able to give all or part of that property to Intown.
A gift of appreciated real estate may offer significant tax benefits. Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation while receiving a charitable deduction for the property's fair market value.
How It Works
Intown works with the PCA Foundation to facilitate gifts of real estate. Because these gifts can involve legal, tax, and property considerations, each gift needs to be evaluated individually.
If you are considering a gift of real estate, please contact the Intown church office before taking any action. We will connect you with the PCA Foundation, which will work with you through the details of the gift.
